Un Gato Named Church
Hola!
I had my first Sunday at the MTC (CCM in Spanish). It was definitely different, but as long as I figure out how to use my time more wisely, I think it could really begin to grow on me. We were able to discuss the gospel and found out our branch president knows karate. We got two new STLs (Sister Training Leaders) who are amazing. And to end the day we met the CCM's cat that just roams around. I said we could name it George, but my non-native English speaking teacher thought I said Church. So now we have a district cat/mascot named Church.
My district and I had the opportunity to go to the Mexico City Temple. We did baptisms, confirmations, and initiatories. They were all in Spanish and I didn't understand a ton of it, but it was still a really cool experience. Learning and listening about the gospel in Spanish has definitely added to my testimony because but I could still feeling the same power.
Another cohesive experience before I just go off about random events, was teaching our first person in the Teaching Resource Center this last Saturday. I was very nervous because I was talking to people. . . in Spanish. . . with a native Spanish speaker . . . about things I really care about. Despite these fears, I felt like it went pretty well. We taught a very kind older woman who only spoke Spanish. What I said probably didn't make sense, but the Spirit was there. I especially felt it when she told a story about prayer. I had no idea who the story was about, what happened to them, or how it ended. I do know however, that it was a precious story to this woman and made her understand something about the gospel. She cried while she told this story and I cried. I felt the Spirit so strongly, and I know she has such a strong testimony. We ended our lesson, and she gave me and my companion a big hug. I told her I felt her testimony in my heart and while I apologized for my Spanish, she promised I was fine, and it would get better really fast (at least ironically I'm pretty sure that is what she said).
