Now Everyone Can Blackmail Me

Hola,

I had the coolest opportunity to teach a friend of ours how to do family history. And watching her excitement as she found a record about her grandma was incredible.

We had another lesson with a family with three younger kids that went wrong in all the best ways. We would try to set up pieces for a game and the youngest would knock them all away. And every time she did, the older two would just laugh. But through this, we were still able to teach their Dad and teach the kids. There was a certain point that one of the kids was laughing so hard she started crying. Being able to participate in that happy gospel moment was such a blessing for my week.

I did have some harder moments, but they didn't stay. Thankfully, there are always good moments to fall back on.

We also went to a house with a solid 5 dogs outside it, so that was fun. And we had a really good lesson with one of our friends and another impromptu lesson about faith.

This week I was thinking a lot about Peter in the New Testament and the power of the Atonement. Peter was asked three times if he knew Christ and he denied it three times. Later, Christ asked Peter if he loved Him three times. Repentance is not simply a healed wound or a scar, but it is the sacredness of repetition.

We also had a training about the sacrament and I love the idea of the statement "Lord is it I?" in that context. The sacrament is just a time to try to be better by being open and humble.

On a way different note, we had a lesson with a really great family and when it ended my companion went around and shook everyone's hand, so I did the same. But when I got to the end of the line, I shook the father’s hand, looked him in the eyed and said "hola" and left the house.

So now I guess everyone has a story they can use to blackmail me. Haha.
