Seguiré a mi Jesus

At least half the reason i don't consistently write emails is because of the intro. I never know what to write to make it interesting.

As part of the baptism process, we have to fill out a form with birthdate, names of parents, spouse, and children. Carlos was a little apprehensive just because it was a lot of information. But we reassured him. And a scripture came to mind, which I have wanted to share for ages. It's Moroni 6:4:

"And after they had been received unto baptism, and were wrought upon and cleansed by the power of the Holy Ghost, they were numbered among the people of the church of Christ; and their names were taken, that they might be remembered and nourished by the good word of God, to keep them in the right way, to keep them continually watchful unto prayer, relying alone upon the merits of Christ, who was the author and the finisher of their faith."

And honestly in retrospect I'm not sure how much it helped Carlos, but I loved the emphasis on Christ, and the power of the Church as a community of believers in Christ. As missionaries we have to rely so much on the members to continue to strengthen the new members.

Carlos's baptism was so amazing. The whole service minus the conducting was in Spanish. The talks were each in Spanish and directed towards Carlos. And we had so many members come even though they knew they wouldn't understand the service. And Ounner, Carlos's 7 year old son, gave the closing prayer for the baptism in their first language q'eqchi'. And it was the sweetest prayer.

Afterwards Carlos was so happy, and so grateful. He went around to everyone who came and shook their hands. And the next day he was confirmed in church, and that prayer was also amazing. Afterwards he shook everyone's hands in the circle as well as the Bishop and the ward chorister.

Last p-day was the best p-day ever! We were playing soccer on one of the courts in a park here in Sedalia and it was a ton of fun especially when a group of Guatemalan people showed up to play too. So we did like a tournament-style thing where we switched which team is playing every two scores. And every time our team of missionaries would play we would get smoked and lose. But it was a ton of fun and afterwards we played basketball with some of the kids, one of whom I had taught a couple months ago, named Ruvidia, and she is one of my favorite people. We just had a ton of fun.

And after almost 6 months in Sedalia, I'll be going to a new part of Kansas/Missouri with a new companion, so that's cool. And of course the Chiefs won!
